Artist Statement

Slow-ness is disappearing from all corners of the world, in reaction to this everyday reality Jennifer Jenkins approaches her work in the “slowest of fashions”.  With her interest in how fabric is made she utilizes natural and local fibers. Being a Shepherdess is currently her sole influence in her practice as her materials often are sourced from her own sheep. This also conjures some images of the past that must be brought into the future. These include; religious connections, providing for one’s community, women’s work and lastly Nomadism. While these connections may not be obviously evident they must not be forgotten.
